*Please note our Funding Circles review proposals by Invitation Only*
The Mexico Funding Circle seeks to address the root causes of mass migration in the Americas while also seeking to respond to the human rights crisis on the US/Mexico border caused by the Trump administration's extralegal persecution, detention and deportation of immigrants, asylum seekers, refugee children and families. Organizations we will consider include trans- border immigration justice organizations, Mexican human rights groups, indigenous land rights organizations and Mexico-based sustainable development groups.
Our Strategy and Focus
Our FC conducts extensive and aggressive program work on the US/Mexico border, seeking to support groups across the four US border states that are fighting in multiple arenas: legal, humanitarian, human rights infrastructure, messaging, advocacy and more. We are mindful of the political realities concerning immigration, and seek to support the best messaging efforts that advance the consensus that we are a nation of immigrants. We are also mindful that resources need to be directed to the cause of calming forced migration by supporting economic justice in Mexico.
2019 Grant Recipients
Grant Cycle Guidelines:
We prefer to fund smaller organizations (generally budgets under $1.5M) where a Threshold grant can have a significant impact on our grantee partners' work.
We prefer to work on issues which are critical but not as visible to the public due to a lack of media coverage and therefore don’t come to the attention of other funders.
We fund both 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3) organizations that work within Mexico and in the United States.
